Community Based Businesses (CBB) are economic operations that yield a triple bottom line return: Economic, Environmental and Social for the sole benefit of the communities that operate them. During the business planning efforts and in collaboration with the Coalition of Fellows, the CFI team assesses the impact of the business on these three lines. Our CBB programs are designed in such a way that they can help sustain other Community Infrastructure such as daycares or health centers.
CBBs are designed at the community level. Meaning that they are community-ran businesses as a CFI program. Our organization employs the local workforce for operating these businesses and provides high end business planning in order to insure the viability of the projects. The ultimate ambition of CFI is to transfer the ownership of our programs to the benefit of the community. On the long run CFI wishes to assess the performance of its CBBs in order to turn them into Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) opportunities that would also ultimately result in local ownership. As an individual or an organization you can help us design better CBB and CAO programs for the benefit of forgotten communities by sharing your knowledge and expertise by becoming a Fellow of the Coalition. You can also support these programs financially by making donations.
