Centered in the Siem Reap and Sen Sok Communes, Cambodia, CFI’s Safe Haven Outreach provides health care, surgical intervention, rehabilitation, physical and speech therapy and nutritional, dental and health care for children with complex physical disabilities and medical issues. CFI’s Safe Haven Outreach Program will also pave the way for other community-based developments that will permit families live healthier lives and to work together for the shared improvement of their villages. Healthcare: While the features, developmental disabilities and medical problems associated with cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, polio and birth defects can’t be cured, treatment can often improve a child’s capabilities. Many children have the potential to lead fulfilling adult lives if their disabilities are properly managed. The children from the 32 villages in Safe Haven Outreach program have had little to no access to healthcare that could improve their lives. Each of Safe Haven’s children are safeguarded by the Safe Haven Child Protection Policy, and are currently being provided with:

• A comprehensive health screening, confidential blood testing, vaccinations (where needed) and a full assessment of his/her physical and medical needs
• An individually-tailored nutritional program and any necessary supplements
• Protocols that might include physical therapy, speech therapy; drugs to control pain, seizures or muscle spasms; hearing aids, wheelchairs and/or rolling walkers
• Dedicated care and medical supervision by Safe Haven’s professional trained medical staff.
• Referral to quality area health facilities for vision and dental assessment and care
• Where applicable, referral to Angkor Children’s Hospital and Children’s Surgical Center for surgery to correct anatomical abnormalities.
• Full at home rehabilitation and post surgery care
• Every Safe Haven family lacking access to clean water receives water filters and is given instruction on water filtration.
• Every Safe Haven family receives monthly vitamins, de worming medications and basic medical care oversight from our medical staff
• Every Safe Haven family receives toothbrushes and educational sessions on the importance of dental health
• Every Safe Haven family receives educational assistance on improving their children’s nutritional health
